Although he shared the ring with prospects like Odlanier Solis or Alexander Dimitrenko, German heavyweight champion Andreas Sidon won one of his hardest battles outside the ring. In April 2007, the BDB (German boxing federation) suspended Sidon after a devastating knockout loss to Solis after medical exams ruled the German unfit to fight. In addition, Sidon lost his national title. After a lengthy court-room battle, the District Court of Hamburg now reinstated Sidon’s license and ruled that Sidon should still be listed as Germany’s heavyweight champion. This decision was based on independent medical exams. Now, the court ruled that Sidon is not at any more harm during a boxing match than any other fighter. Therefore, Sidon is cleared to fight and can mount a comeback into the ring.
