March Madness @ Schuetzen Park

Lightweight prospect Danny “Little Mac” McDermott (8-1, 3 KOs) of Jersey City, NJ battles unbeaten Brian Miller (7-0-3, 3 KOs) of Schenectady, NY for the vacant NABC title on Thursday, March 25 at Schuetzen Park in North Bergen, NJ.  The McDermott-Miller contest will headline the “March Badness” card promoted by John Lynch of Pound for Pound Promotions.

“It’s an honor to fight for my first professional championship in front of my hometown fans,” said McDermott.  “This year will be my breakout year.”

McDermott  –  who had an amateur of career of 50-plus bouts plus he has sparred with champions Arturo Gatti, Bones Adams and Paul Malignaggi, among others  –  has fought five times previously at Schuetzen Park.

“Pound for Pound is glad to be back in Schuetzen Park and proud to have Danny as a headliner,” said Lynch.  “Danny is always an exciting fighter and we expect him to thrill the crowd as usual.”

The card will also feature Jersey City cruiserweight Patrick Farrell (5-0, 3 KOs), as well as Passaic featherweight Victor Valenzuela (7-0, 1 KO), Union City middleweight Jason Escalera (7-0, 6 KOs), Bronx junior-middleweight Steven Martinez (3-0, 3 KOs), Israeli junior-featherweight Eilon Kedem (10-3-4, 7 KOs), Asbury Park lightweight Chris Green (3-1, 1 KOs) and Union City middleweight Abe Torres (1-3-2, 1 KO).

Tickets are $100, $50 or $35 and can be purchased by calling (561) 503-9948 or at the box office 201-864-9566. Schuetzen Park is located at 3167 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen, NJ.  Doors open at 5:30 PM. First bout starts at 6:30 PM.
