“Public Safety Night” at The Blue

It’s “Public Safety Night” on Friday, September 11th at The Legendary Blue Horizon in Philadelphia as fan favorite Steve Chambers (19-1-1, 5 KOs) returns to the ring! Chambers – a native son of Philly – has fought all but one of his twenty-two bouts at The Blue Horizon. Chambers is coming off a nine month layoff due to a foot injury and he is scheduled for an eight-round jr welterweight contest.

In the co-feature, Darren Fallen (12-4-1, 6 KOs) battles the hard-hitting veteran Joshua Onyango (14-17-1, 11 KOs) in an eight round jr middleweight bout.

In a six round jr lightweight bout of Blue Horizon regulars, Joselito Collado (8-0, 2 KOs) will put his undefeated ledger on the line against Jules Blackwell (8-2-2, 3 KOs).

In a special feature attraction, popular Israeli jr welterweight Elad Shmouel (20-2, 11 KOs) is scheduled to face an opponent to be determined in a six-round contest. Shmouel is one of the few active professional Israeli boxers at this time. This will be his eighth appearance at The Blue Horizon.

In a four-round lightweight bout, Isaac Suarez (7-0, 2 KOs) encounters Mondre Pope (1-0-1).

Joe Alonzo makes his pro debut against William Brown (4-3, 2 KOs) in a four-round welterweight affair.

Fresh off of scoring a third round knockout in his pro debut back in May, heavyweight Makiti Ku-Tima will see action in four-round bout against an opponent to be named.

Richard Brown (4-0, 2 KOs) takes on Kevin Hood (5-11-1) in a heavyweight four-rounder.

In a four round jr welterweight contest, Ruslan Khayrtdinov (3-0, 1 KO) will encounter an opponent to be announced.

Philly native Jackie Davis (2-0, 1 KO) meets Victoria Cisneros (3-6-2) in a four-round welterweight tiff.

Rounding out the card are welterweight Darrell Jones (1-0, 1 KO) and jr middleweight Phillip McCants (7-1-1, 3 KOs) both against opponents to be determined.

“Public Safety Night” is promoted by Vernoca L. Michael and Blue Horizon Boxing Promotions to honor Police Officers, Firefighters and other security personnel in the Philadelphia area.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
