Two born-punchers collide in an explosive combination this Saturday night in Tijuana as featherweight Joksan ‘Torito’ Hernández (23-2, 13 KOs) from Ensenada faces Marlon ‘Rata’ Aguilar (24-9-1, 17 KOs) at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana in a ten-rounder. Hernandez will share top billing with WBC female interim super bantamweight titleholder Jackie “Aztec Princess” Nava, who will defend her belt against Colombian Maria ‘Pantera’ Miranda.
“I will face an experienced opponent,” stated Hernandez, 23, who trained for seven weeks in Ensenada. “I know him, he’s my height, a similar style and I said that this fight will be a war. We are both punchers, we like the trade and I’ll go out to finish it from the first round because I don’t think this fight comes to a decision. Aguilar is the latest obstacle I have to overcome to get a world title fight and I’m ready to win.”
Aguilar, barely 22, also believes this bout can lead to a title shot. “I did 200 rounds of sparring, I spent a lot of time in the gym, and I’m in excellent shape,” he stated.
Both Aguilar and Miranda will arrive today in Tijuana with the final press conference set for Thursday. The weigh-in Weighing will be held on Friday at the Tijuana Boxing Commission’s Headquarters.
The boxing evening called ‘Iluminando obras de vida’ and presented by Zanfer Promotions, is intended to support the program ‘ABUELAZO’ of the Baraquiel D. Fimbres Foundation, which will help the Casa Hogar San Vicente de Paul in Tijuana.
