The 2nd Annual Atlantic City All Star Boxing Gala will take place on Saturday, June 1 at 6:30pm at the Resorts Hotel Casino’s Superstar Theater in Atlantic City, NJ. The Gala and Tribute Dinner was started last year, and has become an annual event, held to honor boxers and personalities for their contributions toward making Atlantic City a boxing Mecca. The cost to attend the black-tie-optional affair is $100, which includes dinner and unfettered access for fans to speak with, take photographs, and obtain autographs from some of the greatest boxers and personalities in the history of the sweet science.
The 2013 class of honorees include, Iran Barkley, DeMarcus Corley, Jameel McCline, Ivan Robinson, John Sculley, Dorin Spivey, Marlon Starling, Chuck Wepner, and host of other boxers and personalities.
Honorees from the first gala were invited back as guests this year. Last year’s honorees included – but not limited to – such ring legends as Mike Tyson, Meldrick Taylor, Michael Spinks, Matthew Saad Muhammed, Bobby Czyz, Dave Tiberi, Vito Antuofermo, Don King, Ray Mercer, Jeff Chandler, Buster Drayton, Calvin Grove, and Larry Holmes.
Immediate past Atlantic City Chief Prosecutor Jonathan Diego, Chairman of the event’s committee, stated, “Over 60 champions and boxing personalities, whom assisted in Atlantic City’s ascension to becoming the boxing Mecca of the United States, will attend this year’s black tie optional event. We will also honor the lives, careers, and legacies of Hector “Macho” Camacho, Carl “The Truth” Williams, Tony “Pound for Pound” Martin, and other champions and personalities whom passed during the past 12 months.”
