Lightweight Abner Cotto (12-0, 10 KOs) remained undefeated and became the Puerto Rican national champion by winning a unanimous decision over Fernando Torres (17-3-1, 10 KOs) on Friday night at the Centro de Convenciones in Guayama, Puerto Rico. Cotto dropped Torres in rounds five and ten en route to a 98-90, 98-90 and 97-91 win. “I feel super good about this win,” said Cotto. “Undoubtedly, so far, it’s the greatest achievement of my career for the quality of opponent in Fernando Torres. This victory was the result of many hours and days of work and I thank God we got the win!” The card was promoted by Universal Promotions.
