Unbeaten Russian heavyweight power-puncher Magomed “Mago” Abdusalamov (15-0, 15 KOs) continued his reign of terror in the heavyweight division with an impressive second round TKO over Maurice “Freight Train” Byarm (13-2-1, 9 KOs) on Friday night at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Abdusalamov brutally battered Byarm in round one and Byarm barely made it back to his corner. Abdusalamov immediately jumped on Byarm in round two, first sending him crashing to the deck, then finishing him with his follow-up barrage. Referee Tony Weeks waved it off at :36.

In the main event, red-hot featherweight prospect Javier “El Abejon” Fortuna (20-0, 15 KOs) scored an explosive second round KO over former IBF featherweight champion Cristobal “Lacandon” Cruz (39-14, 23 KOs). Fortuna dropped Cruz in both rounds one and two. The bout was stopped by referee Robert Byrd after the second knockdown. Time was 2:22.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
