Abraham-Dirrell on March 27

Looks like the March 6 SUPER SIX showdown between King Arthur Abraham and Andre Dirrell will be pushed back three weeks. Sauerland Event CEO Chris Meyer confirmed: “Showtime has informed us that the fight will be three weeks later – on March 27th. So we now have all the plans focused on this date. However, the venue has not yet been specified.”

SUPER SIX leader King Arthur is happy that the fight will be rescheduled fairly quickly. “Of course I was disappointed at first when I heard that Andre Dirrell was injured. But boxing three weeks later would be a good alternative. I look forward to my second fight in the U.S. and want to re-inspire the American public. In June 2008, Edison Miranda felt my will to win and my punching power in Florida. Now it’s Andre Dirrell’s turn. As everyone knows, it’s my goal to win the Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament.”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
