Abregu-Avendano collide Friday

By Gabriel F. Cordero

Argentinian prospect Carlos “El Potro” Abregu (32-1, 26 KOs) will take on experienced Venezuelan Marco Antonio Avendano (30-8-1, 22 KOs) on Friday night at Estadio Delmi in Salta, Argentina. Sources have indicated that if victorious Abregu could face undefeated and highly rated Puerto Rican Thomas Dulorme next. “I am very well prepared for this fight,” said Abregu. “Avendano has strong punch but I’m in good shape and have a strong desire to face the best of my division. It’s time to move forward and get a world title opportunity.”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
