Word is lightweight Richard Abril (17-3-1, 8 KOs) could return on October 13 to defend his WBA crown against unbeaten Sharif Bogere (23-0, 15 KOs) in Las Vegas. It would be April’s first fight since losing a controversial split decision against former champion Brandon Rios in April. The WBA officially announced that Abril would be allowed to keep his interim title, despite the loss to Rios, who didn’t make weight for the fight. Abril was later elevated to WBA regular champion. Previously it was thought that April would be defending against Gavin Rees, who is now being mentioned as a possible opponent for former world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa.
