Acosta-Hovhannisyan undercard

By Francisco Salazar

As first reported by a few weeks ago, youth versus experience will be showcased as former world title holder Miguel Acosta will take on Art Hovhannisyan in a scheduled 10 round bout. The bout will take place at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, CA on July 20th and will be televised on Showtime. Gary Shaw Productions matchmaker John Beninati notified on Monday that Showtime approved two more bouts to be televised as a ShoBox: The New Generation triple-header card. In a compelling scheduled eight round bout, unbeaten junior middleweight Julian Williams (9-0-1, 4 KOs) takes on Said El Harrak (10-2-1, 5 KOs). Unbeaten super bantamweight Roman Morales (10-0, 6 KOs) fights Alexis Santiago (11-2-1, 5 KOs) in a scheduled eight round bout. Featherweight Rufino Serrano (12-4) of nearby Santa Maria will take on Rob Diezel (8-4, 3 KOs) in a scheduled six round bout. Tickets start at $35 and could be purchased at the Chumash Casino Resort box office or by calling 1-800-CHUMASH. First bell is scheduled for 5:30 local time.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
