The WBA interim lightweight world champion Miguel “Aguacerito” Acosta is in Mexico to sign a promotional contract with promoter Ignacio “Nacho” Huizar’s KO Entertainment. Acosta had inked a contract last year with Top Rank but is looking to stay more active as he seeks to become full the WBA lightweight champion in 2010. “Mexico is important for me,” said Acosta. “It was here that I won my title against Urban Antillón and now I’m coming to continue my career here. I feel as though I’m Mexican since the public has treated me very well. I think I can do good fights for the people.” Acosta is hoping to defend his belt in March in Monterrey, Nuevo León against an opponent to be named.
