Saturday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey Tomasz “Goral” Adamek (46-2, 28 KOs) captured the vacant IBF North American heavyweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision victory over a one armed “Fast” Eddie Chambers (36-3, 18 KOs) by scores of 116-112 twice and 119-109. The scores did not indicate the closeness of the fight as Adamek’s powerful combinations seemed to be matched by the Chambers right hand only jabs and cleaner overhand rights throughout the later rounds. The victory for Adamek ranked #7 by the IBF, was his second consecutive victory since his failed world title challenge against Vitali Klitschko and once again puts him once again back in the mix for world heavyweight title aspirations.
