Adamek-Chambers post-fight comments

By Mike Bernier

Tomasz Adamek: “I won this fight. I thought the fight was very close. I was standing there fighting punch to punch but Eddie didn’t want to fight. Eddie is very slick. I won this fight and I’m very happy. I’ll fight again in September. Now is time for rest.”

In reference to Chambers not able to throw his right hand:
“This is boxing. In 2005 I fought with a broken nose for 12 rounds and I won this fight. You have to be ready for anything.” [Won MD against Paul Briggs for the vacant WBC light heavyweight title]

On what’s next:
“This is a question for the promoter. I don’t know who. I did what I did and now it’s time for rest.”

Eddie Chambers:

In reference to the arm injury:
“I don’t want to be sound brash but I’m sure I would have won the fight. It would have been extraordinarily on-sided for a fighter that was for an underdog going in.”

Chambers believed he tore something in his left arm and at the time of these comments the arm hasn’t had it checked out yet. The arm was rested in a bent position while he stood at the podium to answer questions. He admitted to being in pain if he moved it.

On getting a rematch with Adamek:
“I’m a fighter, I’ll fight anybody. You can look at my resume as far as the guys I faced in the past. I don’t care who it is.”
