Main Events hosted a press conference on Wednesday at the Riverside Manor in Paterson, NJ to kickoff the July 11th showdown between IBF cruiserweight champion Tomasz Adamek (37-1, 25 KOs) against Bobby Gunn (21-3-1, 18 KOs). The card will be at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. “Every fight is important to me,” said Adamek. “I look forward to fighting at Prudential Center on July 11th.”

Gunn stated, “I thank God so much for this opportunity especially the way everything is with this country right now. You know, I feel kind of like Rocky Balboa and the Cinderella story. No one expects me to win. I am going to go all out. A lot of top contenders won’t fight Tomasz Adamek, and I won’t name names. What’s the point of being ranked if you’re not gonna fight for the title? If you don’t venture, you don’t gain. This is my opportunity. I have nothing to lose; Tomasz Adamek has everything to lose. I’ll be honest I’m so excited, I wish it were tonight!”

Promoter Kathy Duva commented “We have had such great success at Prudential Center. We are excited to be back at The Rock with this particular card. The main event is an IBF championship fight, but it almost seems like the championship of NJ… and everyone knows the toughest fighters come from NJ! The champion Tomasz Adamek is from Jersey City and the challenger Bobby Gunn from Hackensack, NJ. And there are two other fighters from NJ on the card.”

Also on hand was up and coming Welterweight Henry Crawford who said “I am very excited about fighting at home. You know this main event is so crazy; I’ve fought with both of them. I’m not going to say I won’t try to outshine the main event, but 2009 is my year to shine…”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
