Adamek: I can be heavyweight champ!

“I changed my tactic and began to land body punches that changed the fight,” said IBF cruiserweight champion Tomasz Adamek after his exciting knockout win over Johnathon Banks on Friday night in Newark, NJ. “ I have a lot of respect for the right hand of Johnathon Banks but my trainer (Andrzej Gmitruk) told me to be patient, not to rush in and my time will come.” Adamek, who moved to cruiserweight after a world title reign in the light heavyweight division, announced after the fight that he may not stay in the 200lb ranks for long. In his live, post-fight interview with ShoBox analyst Steve Farhood, Adamek announced, “Everything is possible in the United States. I believe I can be heavyweight world champion.” Click here to see out Adamek-Banks photo gallery.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
