WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (23-1, 20 KOs) joined his friend and fellow Canadian WBC Silver Heavyweight Champion Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20 KOs) at the Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas, Nevada. Trainer Don House, who is Stiverne’s trainer, also worked with Stevenson. Both fighters are making their mark in the boxing world, with Stevenson knocking out everyone that is put in front of him and Stiverne’s upset of Chris Arreola (March 2013) shaking up the heavyweight landscape. Stiverne was hoping to fight Vitali Klitschko but the younger Klitschko brother is currently occupied with resolving the political strife in his homeland of the Ukraine. Back in December, the WBC appointed Vitali as the Champion Emeritus which will allow him the opportunity to decide at a later point whether he wants to resign from professional boxing or fight again for the title. Stiverne – the #1 WBC ranked contender – is expected to fight a rematch with Chris Arreola – the #2 WBC contender – for the title.
Stevenson is expected to face Andrzej Fonfara (25-2, 15 KOs) on May 24 in Montreal, Canada for his WBC title.
Trainer Eddie Mustafa greeted Stevenson at the Mayweather Gym and congratulated him on his win against Tony Bellew. Mustafa told Stevenson, “Just keep doing what you’re doing!”
