“Adonis Stevenson injured his left hand in sparring last Friday,” said promoter Yvon Michel, President of Groupe Yvon Michel. “The next day he went to see a doctor who diagnosed a severe bruise and major swelling. Adonis was not able to close his hand and make a fist. Treatments were done in hopes of improvement but there was not enough progress and under the doctor’s advice it was decided to pull Adonis out of his fight [on Friday night against Don "Da Bomb" George].”
According to Michel, Stevenson is now in Montreal receiving treatment. The IBF super middleweight title eliminator will be rescheduled for early this fall. Fightnews.com has learned that an October 27 HBO date is being looked at.
