Afolabi: I’m ready to move on to other challenges

One week after challenging for the WBO cruiserweight world title, top rated contender Ola Afolabi has returned home to Southern California and is preparing to map out his future for another world title opportunity. Afolabi lost a hotly contested majority decision to Marco Huck on June 8 in Berlin, Germany, the third time they have fought. “I congratulate Marco, he fought a very good fight. This is the third time we’ve fought so I’m ready to move on to other challenges,” said Afolabi, 0-2-1 against Huck in three close fights. “I’ll be back in the gym shortly fully focused on fighting my way back into world title contention.”

    Help Support Fightnews.com®

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
