After the war: Mike Mollo speaks

By Przemek Garczarczyk

“Merciless” Mike Mollo (20-4, 12 KO) lost to Artur Szpilka (13-0, 10 KO) Friday night in Chicago, but he won all the fans’ hearts in a great, bloody battle with the Polish heavyweight prospect. Mollo lost by KO in sixth round but not before twice putting his 23-year-old rival on the canvas. Both fighters delivered on all their promises leading up to the fight, and Mollo, talking in the UIC Pavilion locker room minutes after the fight, does not hide his emotions.

Mollo’s trainer Danell “Doc” Nicholson also weighed in on the epic fight.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
