The first professional card of the month—also the first promoted by former world champion and Hall of Famer Myungwoo Yuh under the banner of this new company, YMH Buffalo Promotions—couldn’t have happened on a more beautiful day. In the main event, former amateur standout Sungdae Lee (6-1, 2 KOs), making his first defense of the title he won by a hairline decision over elongated oak-like Eunchang Lee in April, took the initiative in round one, discombobulating the former Middleweight Rookie Champion and #4 ranked challenger, Kyeongjoon Ahn (5-2-1, 3 KOs) with sizzling combinations. Ahn, coming off a questionable split decision loss in April in Japan over six rounds against OPBF #5 ranked local super welterweight Yosuke Kirima, regrouped and came out strong in the second, dropping the champion with a cracking right hook just past the halfway mark. Lee rose and attempted to fight back, but one minute later Ahn flattened him again with a left-right hook combination, ending the champion’s brief reign and seizing the title by TKO at 2:57 of the second stanza on this sun-drenched day in the suburbs of Seoul.

Ahn, cutting a handsome figure in his newly acquired KBC champion belt and leopard-print trunks, posed for pictures and signed autographs for a long line of fans. A polished and promising puncher at only 21 years of age, Ahn rises to 6 – 2 – 1, (4 KOs). Lee, the prefight favorite, drops to 6 – 2 (2 KOs).

Undercard:

Super bantamweights Moonsun Jung and Sunho Shim (0-0-1) fought to a four round draw.

In a four-round Super welterweight contest, Hyunkyum Park (2-0, 2 KOs) defeated Dongsuk Han (1-5) by unanimous decision.

Myunsoo Jung rushed Minsoo Kim in the fourth and final round of their super bantamweight bout, prompting the referee to intervene and declare Jung the winner by TKO at 1:44 of the fourth.

In the four-round semifinal, super lightweights Sungtak Joo (2-0-1, 1 KO) and Wooshin Kim (3-0, 1 KO) fought to a draw.

Venue: Beomgye Outdoor Arena Stage, Pyeongchon, Anyang.
