Steve Mestas and Air Tight Boxing present ‘War: Battle for Legacy’ Friday, May 24th at the Red & Jerry’s event center in Sheridan, Colorado, just south of Denver.
In the 8 round main event Corey ‘Wolf Dawg’ Alarcon (17-18-1, 4 KOs) takes on Raul ‘El Chino’ Carrillo (11-1, 6KOs). Alarcon has been away from boxing for over year, his last bout a decision win over Terry Buterbaugh in February of 2012. Carrillo’s last bout was in February of this year when he won a majority decision over Cesar Holguin in a very exciting fight. Carrillo will look to prove he can overcome the experience of Alarcon showing he is ready for the next level of competition.
The co main will see female fighters Liza ‘Too Quick-Too Slick’ Amaya (3-0, 1KO) and Avery Vilche (1-0) go 6 rounds at bantamweight. Amaya turned pro in May of last year and has been very busy since racking up three straight wins. Vilche won a majority decision over Guadalupe Gutierrez in her debut this past September in California.
The featured bout is an interesting one which pits Giovanni Merceron (1-0, 1KO) against Marcus Dawkins (2-0, 0KO) in junior middleweight action. Merceron was impressive in his debut back in December but has not been able to land a bout since. He was scheduled to fight in February but his opponent ‘no showed’ for the weigh in. Dawkins is a slick southpaw who has found a way to win in his two bouts, one being a split and the other a majority decision win. This one is scheduled for 5 rounds.
The undercard will see Alfred ‘The Tornado’ Romero (5-2, 5KOs) in a stay busy bout against Kim McDonough (0-3). Romero showed why all 5 of his wins have come by knock out in February as he smashed Richard Baldo out in less than a round.
Rounding out the card will be heavyweight Reyes Diaz (1-0, 1KO) against debuter Tony Hiser and pro debuters Armando Vera and Ruben Santos step through the ropes in a welterweight tilt. There will also be a female bout between debuters Crista Williams and Lyanne Aragon.
The doors open at 6 pm with the first bell at 7:30 at Red & Jerry’s located at 1840 West Oxford in Sheridan, Colorado, just south of Denver. Tickets are available at TicketsWest.com with more information available by calling 720-298-1954.
