Two high calibre fights have been added to the January 17th “Universum Champions Night” in Düsseldorf at the Burg-Wächter Castello. Unbeaten cruiserweight Alexander Alekseev (16-0, 15 KOs) will take on Victor Emilio Ramirez (13-1, 11 KOs) for the WBO interim cruiserweight title. Alekseev is rated WBO #2, while Ramirez is WBO #9. Also, light heavyweight Jürgen Brähmer (31-2, 25 KOs) will return from a loss in November against WBA world champion Hugo Hernan Garay. The “100 Year Talent” will take on Rubin “Mr. Hollywood” Williams (29-5-1, 16 KOs). “I had a piece missing in my dream of winning a world championship — the fight against Garay made that clear,” said Brähmer. “Even if it’s only one small piece, the defeat has shown me that I still have work to do with my trainer Michael Timm. So I must work even more and even harder to still fulfill my dream. The fight against Williams coming so quickly after my last appearance is an important touchstone. In addition, it will help me to better establish myself in my new weight class at light heavyweight.”
As previously announced, the card will also include an attractive female world title bout between WIBF/WBC featherweight champion Ina Menzer (22-0, 9 KOs) and ex-world champion Esther Schouten (22-4-1, 11 KOs).
