Undefeated WBC No. 1 ranked super lightweight Devon Alexander “The Great” (18-0, 11 KOs) participated successfully in a preliminary weigh In yesterday, 30 days prior to his world championship showdown with former world champion Junior “The Hitter” Witter on Aug. 1 at Agua Caliente Casino, Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif., on SHOWTIME.
The WBC mandates that fighters competing for their super lightweight (140-pound limit) championship can weigh no more than 10 percent over the weight 30 days prior to their match, in this case up to 154 pounds.  Alexander weighed 148 pounds at his home gym in St. Louis.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
