Former Nicaraguan WBA lightweight world champion Jose Alfaro (24-6, 21 KOs) is ready to return to the ring this October 24, 2010 in Tokyo, Japan against highly regarded WBA and WBC rated Japanese boxing prospect Yoshiro Kamegai (16-0, 14 KOs). Kamegai vs. Alfaro will be part of the TEIKEN Boxing promotions undercard featuring WBC champ Toshiaki Nishioka defending his title against Rendall Munroe as well as the spectacular clash between WBA minimum weight king Roman Gonzalez (26-0, 22 KOs) challenging WBA light flyweight king Juan Carlos Reveco (25-1, 15 KOs) for the title currently in possession of Reveco. Participating in the fight card will also be two time world champion Jorge “El Nino de Oro” Linares facing former world champ Jesus “Matador” Chavez.
Alfaro is no stranger to high profile fights in foreign countries as he has faced former and current champions Antonio Demarco, Demarcus Corley, Yusuke Kobori, Miguel Acosta and future HOF Erick Morales. Alfaro is currently coming of a TKO win last weekend over Mexican fighter Joel “Dinamita” Suarez (25-10-1, 23 KOs) in his home country of Nicaragua.
“This is a great chance for me. I want to prove to the world boxing that I am ready of being a great fighter. I have been working really hard in the gym. I plan to take the fight straight at Kamegai,” commented Alfaro.
