Alvarez denies involvement in new scandal
WBC super welterweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has denied any involvement in an alleged incident in Puerta Vallarta where a loud New Year’s party led to an altercation with neighbors that left two men injured, including a Canadian diplomat. It has also been alleged that Canelo hasn’t paid a 45,000 peso tab opened in November at a local bar and that he and his companions stole a van.
“I can say that I was in Puerto Vallarta to ring in the New Year, but everything was quiet. I returned this Monday to start training,” Alvarez told La Copa. “I don’t give any importance to such things. I’ll be responsible for the things I do, but not rumors or things people say about me. My mind right now is on the possible fight with Mayweather, which would be a dream come true.”
