WBC super welterweight world champion Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez began strength and endurance training in preparation for his battle against British southpaw Ryan Rhodes, scheduled for June 18 at the Arena VFG in Tlajomulco, Jalisco, Mexico. Alvarez is already running between four and five miles in the mountains of Big Bear California, plus jogging beside a beautiful lake. Everything is perfect weather for his preparation.
Alvarez is boxing seven rounds a day with the lefty Jose Reynoso, who is the Caribbean Boxing Federation super lightweight champ. Edison Reynoso, his coach and strategist, along with his father Chepo Reynoso, reported that last Wednesday, May 18th the world champion hit the scale as is mandated by the WBC rules and recorded a weight of 165.3 in a ceremony overseen by the WBC supervisor Rudy Tellez.
