Alvarez wins WBC Youth 147 belt

In front of 9,000 cheering fans who filled the Benito Juarez Auditorium in Guadalajara, Mexico, 19-year-old and unbeaten prospect Saul “Canelo” Alvarez stopped Marat “Huziev” Khuzeev to claim the vacant WBC Welterweight Youth world title. After studying his opponent in the first round, Alvarez came out more aggressive in the second round and scored a spectacular knockout. Time was 2:33. “Canelo” of Guadalajara is currently ranked #4 WBC, #5 WBO, #6 WBA and upped his record to 28-0-1-21 KOs. On the other hand Khuzeev of Miass, Russia dropped to 18-5-1-7 KOs.

Also on the card, WBC International super flyweight champion Irma “Guerita” Sanchez won a unanimous decision over Lucia “Traviesa” Avalos to defend her belt successfully and WBC Continental Americas Super flyweight champion Juan Jose “Goofy” Montes also won a unanimous decision over Francisco “Panchito” Reyes.

The event was presented by Hector Garcia of HG Boxing, the Municipal Government of Zapopan in association with Tuto Zabala, Jr. and All Star Boxing, Inc “The New Generation”. The main event was be televised by Televisa in Mexico and other countries worldwide.
