While speculation continues to mount over who Amir Khan might fight later this year if he avoids another loss (with superstar Floyd Mayweather Junior being looked at by many as the next ring rival for Khan if Amir can come through okay against Julio Diaz two weeks on Saturday), Khan is currently a big betting favourite to take care of business against “The Kidd” on April 27th.
Khan, who has just enjoyed a lofty WBC ranking – #2 at welterweight, this despite the fact that Khan has never boxed at 147 – is currently listed at 1/12 with Ladbrokes, while former two-time IBF lightweight boss Diaz is listed at 13/2 for the fight set for Sheffield, England. A draw can be bet on at 33/1.
Khan has gone on record as saying a win on April 27th is crucial if his career is to continue: “I’d be destroyed If I lost again,” Khan said to The Daily Mail, and the bookies sure feel as though he will indeed come through.
And if Khan looks good against Diaz, could it really be “Money” Mayweather in the late summer? Thanks to that lofty WBC ranking, this particular match-up could take place. Julio Diaz will likely be ruining some big, big plans for Khan if he defies the odds-makers when he and the former WBA/IBF 140-pound champ meet at the Motorpoint Arena!
