Amir Khan Announces Next Fight Will Be In U.K April 27th, Opponent Still TBA

By James Slater

British star Amir Khan has announced via Twitter that his next fight will take place at a venue to be determined in the U.K and that the fight, to go out on Showtime, will take place on April 27th – the same night Khan conqueror Danny Garcia will face Zab Judah in New York. Khan, 27-3(19) will be having his second fight under new trainer Virgil Hunter and the ultimate goal for the former 140-pound champ is a rematch with the man who shocked him via 4th-round stoppage last summer. The search, or at least the confirmation of Khan’s April foe goes on. Those names that do continue to be floated around include Humberto Soto, Pablo Cesar Cano and Julio Diaz.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
