Andrzej Fonfara public workout on Chicago’s Miracle Mile

On Tuesday morning, IBO light heavyweight world champion Andrzej Fonfara, headling the August 16 “Big Fight 2”, ESPN Friday Night Fights at U.S. Cellular Field card, will hold public workouts on the world renowned, Magnificent Mile in Chicago. Amid the hustle of rush-hour commuters, starting at 7:00 a.m. CT, numerous local fan favorites will go through their intense daily training sessions in a boxing ring set up in the 205-225 North Michigan Avenue Plaza on the northeast corner of Lake Street and Michigan Avenue.

Joining Fonfara will be junior welterweight prospect Adrian “EL Tigre” Granados, pro debuting female Kristin Gearhart, undefeated middleweight prospect Paul Littleton and middleweight veterans Henry “The Western Warrior” Coyle and Trinidad Garcia. Boxing fans are encouraged to attend and watch their favorites train in this unique setting. All fighters will be available for photos and autographs before and after their workouts.

The historic boxing event at U.S. Cellular Field,home of the Chicago White Sox, is headlined by a 12 round light heavyweight clash between Fonfara and former world champion Gabriel “EL Chico Guapo” Campillo.

Also featured will be the “Can’t Miss” heavyweight rematch of Artur “The Pin” Szpilka of Wieliczka, Poland and Chicago’s “Merciless” Mike Mollo, scheduled for ten rounds.

In a special attraction televised bout, Granados will face off against undefeated Mansfield, Ohio’s Mark Salser for the IBA Junior Welterweight Title over eight scheduled rounds.

A full undercard will be announced shortly.

The last professional outdoor boxing event held in Chicago took place over 50 years ago. “THE BIG FIGHT” was held at Comiskey Park on SEPTEMBER 25, 1962 and was headlined by the Heavyweight World Championship between Sonny Liston and Floyd Patterson.

The ring will be set up just behind home plate with the grandstand serving as the backdrop. Doors on the night of the event will open at 6:00 p.m. CT with the first at 7:00 p.m. CT.
