Arce, Angkota ready for war

Tuesday in Mexico City, Jorge “Travieso” Arce and Angky “The Time Bomb” Angkota held separate workout for the local media a the legendary “Gimnasio Romanza” where Nacho Beristain has trained some of the best Mexican boxers over the past 30 years, including Gilberto Roman, Daniel Zaragoza, Humberto “Chiquita” Gonzalez, Ricardo “Finito’ Lopez, Juan Manuel Marquez and Rafael Marquez. Arce and Angkota will battle for the vacant WBO Super flyweight title on Saturday at the “Plaza de Toros Arroyo” in Mexico City in the main event of “Top Rank Live”, that will be televised in the United States on Fox Sports Net and Fox Sports en Espanol.

Angkota was the first one to arrive and looked very fast and strong as he put on a show for the media and fans who gather in the gym.

“Is natural for me to be the underdog in this situation and for fans and media to doubt that I can win the fight, but mark my words this Saturday I will retire Arce. He needs to forget boxing and do something else. I will give him a boxing lesson and will go home with the belt,” said Angkota.

Arce came later and looked good and in great shape for the fight.

“I’m ready, it’s now or never. I will do my talking in the ring. I will do my best because I want to leave boxing as a world champion and I’m sure that it will happen,” said Arce.

Arce is working only to maintain the weight as he has work very hard over the last eight weeks to come in the best possible shape.

The card is loaded with with good fights. In the co-main event to be televised, one of Mexico’s best young featherweights will battle in the ring as Jockson Hernandez of Ensenada takes on Eduardo Escobedo of Mexico City and one of Beristain’s top boxers.

Alfonso “Finito” Lopez who is the son of the great Ricardo “Finito” Lopez will also be in action as he puts his perfect record (3-0, 2 KOs) on the line against Sergio Cruz in a four round Super Flyweight bout. Undefeated Miguel “Mikey” Garcia of Oxnard, California will take on Arturo Gomez of Mexico City in an eight round featherweight bout.

In a female world championship fight, Jackie “The Aztec Princess” Nava of Tijuana will battle Shantal Martinez of Panama for the Interim WBC super bantamweight crown. Nava has won this same title twice before.

Francisco Arce, the younger brother of Jorge Arce will also be action as will be Hanzel Martinez the brother in law of former world champion Antonio Margarito. Martinez is 5-0 with 4 KOs in his professional career, he will take on Angel Rosales in a four round super flyweight bout.

The final press conference will be today at 10:00 a.m. at the Hotel Radisson del Periferico Sur.

Ticket for the big show are now on sale on Ticketmaster and are priced at $1,800, $1,200, $800 and $250 pesos.
