Mexican superstar Jorge ¨Travieso¨ Arce has finished his training in the Municipal Gym in Temoaya, Mexico located 3,800 meters above sea level. In a special workout for the press Arce looked to be in good condition and with fast movements and precise and strong blows designed specifically to try to win by knockout against champion Vic Darchinyan to snatch the WBC, WBA and IBF super flyweight belts. Arce’s work team is now headed toward Anaheim, California, to take part in fight week promotional activities. Arce was very animated, saying ¨I feel with a lot of responsibility and confidence at the same time to be able to defeat Darchinyan,¨ said Arce, who added that this fight is for the pride and the dignity of all Mexicans. The eagerly anticipated world title fight between IBF/WBC/WBA  115-pound champion Vic Darchinyan (31-1-1, 25 KOs) and former two-time world champion Jorge Arce (51-4-1, 39 KOs) will highlight a SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast that begins at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast) from Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
