Former multi-division world champion Jorge “Travieso” Arce (64-7-2, 49 KOs) had to use all his experience to defeat Jorge Lacierva (42-10-6, 27 KOs) in the eighth round before a sellout of 5,000 fans at the Arena Metropolitana “Jorge Cuesy” in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico. Arce dropped Lacierva in round four with a hook to the liver, but was deducted two points in round five. Arce was also cut over both eyes. In the eighth round, Lacierva complained of an injury in his right shoulder and could no longer go out to fight. With the win, Arce could face WBC featherweight champion Johnny Gonzalez in September.

In an IBF flyweight eliminator, unbeaten McJoe Arroyo (15-0, 7 KOs) scored an impressive eleventh round TKO over former world champion Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (38-5, 26 KOs). Arroyo floored Marquez in the first, fourth, eighth and eleventh rounds.

Bantamweight Alejandro “Payasito” Hernandez (28-10, 15 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision Daniel “Bad Boy” Rosas (18-2-1, 11 KOs) to claim the WBO interim bantamweight title. Hernandez dropped Rosas and almost stopped him in round three. Scores were 116-111, 114-113 and 117-110.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
