Four division world champion Jorge “Travieso” Arce returns to his roots when he faces former champion Mauricio “Nanara” Martinez on September 22 at the Polideportivo Centenario in his hometown of Las Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. Arce (60-6-2-1nc, 46 KOs) will be competing in his 70th pro bout against Martinez (36-12-1, 24 KOs), who won the WBO bantam belt 12 years ago. Also in action is IBF super flyweight world champion Juan Carlos “Zurdito” Sanchez Jr. (14-1-1, 7 KOs) will face the dangerous and experienced Rodel Mayol (31-5-2, 22 KOs). Arce and Sanchez appeared at a press event this week to officially announce the card, which is billed as “Viva Mochis” and presented by Zanfer Promotions.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
