Argentina Commission: We laugh at sanctions
The WBC earlier today demanded that local authorities immediate action to “punish the criminals that have stained boxing and the reputation of such an exemplary and honorable country like Argentina.” They also called on all boxing federations, boxing commissions and promoters in the world to take this shameful event as an example” to reinforce security before, during and after the bouts to prevent incidents like the post-fight riot in Mar de Plata, Argentina.
However, Osvaldo Bisbal, head of the Federación Argentina de Boxeo (FAB), said in an interview with Clarin that there will be no sanctions involving the incident. “According to what I saw, I can’t find anyone to punish. Who you want to punish? The boxer? The promoter? They complied with everything. The Once Unidos Stadium had nothing to do with it. There is no one to punish.”
As for the possibility of the IBF sanctioning the Argentina Federation? “We laugh at the sanctions of international sanctioning bodies” stated Bisbal. “They have no authority to do so.”
