IBO World Featherweight Champion “Action” Jackson Asiku (26-3, 14 KOs) will clash with former WBO bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (45-7,39KO’s) on September 15 at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, in Asiku’s American debut. “Gonzalez will be my stepping stone to the big names in the featherweight division,” said Asiku. “When the experts and the American boxing fans see me KO Jhonny Gonzalez they will want to see me take on Gamboa, Rojas and Lopez. I bring an exciting attacking style to the ring and I can beat all of them. Watch me on September 15th and see me destroy Gonzalez… Jackson Asiku is coming.”
Asiku scored his most impressive career win when he captured the IBO title in 2009 when he stopped tough Mexican Heriberto Ruiz in eight rounds in Sydney. The more experienced Gonzalez scored a twelve round points win over Fernando Montiel in 2006 and defeated Irene Pacheco in 2007 in WBO 118 pound title bouts. In 2009 Japan’s Toshiaki Nishioka stopped Gonzalez in WBC 122 pound title bout.
