Tijuana promotional company Baja Boxing will kick off their 2011 season in the quaint but beautiful seaside town of Rosarito, MX, where the unbeaten world ranked David “Morita” De La Mora (22-0, 15 KOs) of Tijuana, MX, will face off against the experienced German “Panteonero” Meraz (29-17-1, 12KOs) Agua Prieta, MX, for ten bantamweight rounds. The fight card is slated for March 5th held at the Ernesto Ruffo Appel Municipal Gym. De La Mora’s WBC FECARBOX title will not be at play. In the semi main event, the hard hitting Arturo “Fuerte” Badillo (19-1, 17KOs) of Tijuana will go against Ricardo Armenta (11-8-1, 4KOs) of Agua Prieta, MX, also for ten rounds also in the 118 lbs. division.
Also featured on the fight card will be a who’s who of emerging south of the border talent such as local featherweight KO artist Enrique Tinoco (3-0, 3KOs). In his last bout, Tinoco defeated by first round KO the highly touted Alejandro “Mantequitas” Rubio, nephew of five-time world champion Manuel “Mantecas” Medina. Tinoco will go against the tougher than expected Cesar De La Mora (2-1-1, 2KOs) of Tijuana. Also on the card will be featherweight Cesar Lopez (2-3) of Rosarito going against Abraham Apodaca (0-1) of Tijuana.
