Bakhtin wins IBO title in Russia

By Mike Angel Lopez

In a cold freezing night in Moscow, Russian Alexnader “Knight Alexander” Bakhtin (30-0, 11 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision against tough Filipino fighter Rolie “Gasolina” Gasca (19-3, 5 KOs) in a clash for the vacant IBO world super bantamweight title fight on Tuesday at the Varshavka Sky.

In the co-main event, Russian lightweight Eduard Troyanovsky (12-0, 9 KOs) came with in a huge height and reach advantage and used it to his advantage to keep tough Filipino Joseph Von Minoza (14-0, 6 KOs) at a distance. Minoza went toe to toe with the lanky Russian in a good action packed fight with Minoza landing some big shots, but in the 6th and 7th rounds, Troyanovsky took control of the fight, and Team Minoza thought he had enough and decided to not come out for the 8th round. Troyanovsky is the new PABA beltholder.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
