Universum Box-Promotion has a big card planned forAugust 22 in Budapest, Hungary. In the main event, WBO super middleweight champion Károly Balzsay (21-0, 15 KOs) defends against Robert Stieglitz (35-2, 21 KOs). Both Balzsay and Stieglitz were in attendance at a press conference earlier this week. “I’m very pleased that my second title defense will take place in my home town,” said Balzsay. “It’s a tough fight because Robert is a very talented, tough fighter. Excitement is guaranteed. I want to give a great gift to my fans: an excellent victory.”

“I was there in Magdeburg when Károly defeated Denis Inkin,” said Stieglitz. “I will not accept gifts and I will take advantage of my second world title shot. Károly is a tough guy. What he did against Inkin was impressive.”

Balzsay’s trainer Fritz Sdunek was unable to travel to Budapest, however Stieglitz trainer Torsten Schmitz did say a few words. “I can only say good things,” stated Schmitz. “A very good fighter as a champion is always the hunted. It is damn hard to defeat him in front of his fans, but we will make every effort. I can already guarantee a good and exciting fight. It will be critical who can impose his style in the ring.”

Also seeing action are unbeaten WBO European super bantamweight titlist Zsolt Bedák (13-0, 3 KOs) and brother flyweight Pál Bedák. “It’s an honor for me to make my first title defense in Budapest,” said Zsolt. “I want to show what great progress I’ve made. I want to follow in the footsteps of Károly or Zsolt Erdei and this is a good opportunity to take a big step in that direction.”

For Pál Bedák, it will be his first pro fight in Budapest. “I’m obviously delighted,” commented ‘Pimpa.’ “In Magdeburg, when Károly and Zsolt Erdei had world title fights, I felt a little bit of what the support of the Hungarian fans means. Now it’ll be even larger. I will not disappoint!”
