AJ “Bazooka” Banal have been endlessly groomed to be ALA Promotion’s next world champion. Banal is one step away from realizing this dream. On October 20, He will fight Pungluang Sor Singyu for the vacant WBO bantamweight title at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Singyu has been a silent Filipino Assassin beating the likes of Eden Sonsona, Rey Migreno, Marvin Tampus, Monico Laurente and many other Pinoy foes. He has been dominating opponents left and right despite his midgety height of 5’1. Banal may have the height advantage, but all other aspects remain to be seen till fight night.
Banal, who is back to training after his recent comfortable decision victory against Ruben Manakane last Saturday expressed his confidence in his upcoming fight. “I have been waiting for this. How can I let this chance slip away? No way will I let what happened in my Concepcion fight happen again. I have learned my lessons the hard way. I have matured. And I am going to become a world champion on October. Coach Pio Solon has been a great help in improving my stamina and power. I am the taller and stronger fighter but Pungluang is a great fighter. It will be a tough fight ahead of me.” Watch for more updates.
