WBA #8 bantamweight Daniel Diaz (16-1, 12 KOs) and WBA #15 Alvaro Perez (17-1-1, 12 KOs), both of Nicaragua, are set to collide in a nine round bout to be held at Pharaohs Casino in Managua on a May 1 Boxeo PRODESA fight card. The winner of this bout could have a possible date against WBA champ Anselmo Moreno or WBA interim champ Neohmar Cermeno both of whom reside in neighboring Panama. The undercard will feature IBF/WBA ranked flyweight fighter Evert Briceno (30-5, 25 KOs) against hard hitting Reynaldo Cajina as well as WBO/IBF ranked Nerys Espinoza (25-5, 18 KOs) against former world title challenger Miguel Tellez (18-12, 7 KOs). Top Nicaraguan prospects including lightweight Moises Solis (14-1, 10 KOs), super lightweight Cristian Ruiz (8-0, 7 KOs) and 17-year-old minimumweight sensation Carlos “Chocorrón” Buitrago (9-0, 7 KOs) will also see action.
