Barker injured; pulls out of fight

Welterweight Lee Purdy will face unbeaten Argentine Gumersindo Carrasco for the IBF International title in the new main event on September 8 at the Alexandra Palace, north London. Former middleweight title challenger Darren Barker was forced to withdraw from his headlining clash with Simone Rotolo after an arm injury. “I am gutted for Darren as he’s been looking great in training and I know he was ready to get back to what he does best,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “The only good news is that it is a new injury rather than an aggravation of an old injury and we hope he will be back in action very soon.”
