By Alexey Sukachev

A purse bid procedure was held at the IBF headquarters today to determine who will promote the IBF middleweight championship mandatory defense fight. There were only two bidders, Bash Boxing, Inc and Sauerland Event GmbH. Bash Boxing won with a bid of $616,515 and Sauerland Event GmbH bid $521,414. The purse bid split will be 75% to the reigning champion Sebastian Sylvester (33-3, 16 KOs) of Germany and 25% to IBF #1 mandatory challenger Roman Karmazin (40-3-1, 26 KOs) of Russia. The fight must take place within 90 days of March 9, 2010 or no later than June 9, 2010.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
