Battle In The Ballroom x 2

Roy Englebrecht of Roy Englebrecht Promotions will close out the 2009 season of the always popular “Battle In The Ballroom” with two nights of boxing (tonight and Friday night) at the Irvine Marriott Hotel. Tonight’s main event features rising female lightweight contender Chika Nakamura (9-0, 3 KOs) battling tough local veteran Gloria Ramirez (10-16-7, 1 KO). Friday night’s 2009 finale features undefeated heavyweight Joe “The Future” Hanks (10-0, 6 KOs) battling Bernard “Bad Ass” Brown (6-5-2, 3 KOs).

The 5’9” Nakamura is making her 2009 debut and has two knockouts in her prior three fights.

The co-main event features undefeated local featherweight Robert Vargas (4-0-1) against Carlos Luque (1-4).

Also on the card, in a light heavyweight contest, is Danny Perez (8-6-1, 5 KO) vs. Billy Bailey (9-5, 3KO). In the opening bout, debuting lightweight Jessie Roman (2-0, 2 KOs) meets Benjamin Rivera (0-1).

Less than 100 tickets remain for the always sold out Battle In The Ballroom. Tickets are $32 and $40 and may be purchased at or, if tickets remain, at the Irvine Marriott outside the Grand Ballroom. The Irvine Marriott is located at 18000 Von Karman, Irvine, CA 92612. Doors open at 6:30pm and the first bell is at 7:30pm.

As an added bonus to loyal Battle In The Ballroom fans attending the December 17th show will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for just $10 each by bringing their ticket stubs to the Friday night show featuring three undefeated heavyweights in separate bouts.

On Friday night, Joe Hanks will be fighting for the seventh time in 2009 and is coming off two very impressive victories over tougher competition.

In supporting action, a light heavyweight contest, Anatoliy Dudchenko (6-2, 5KO) meets undefeated Alfred Trevino (3-0-1). Also on the card, in a matchup of unbeaten heavyweights, Scott Alexander (5-0, 3KO) takes on Seth Colebrook (3-0, 3KO). Meeting in a welterweight affair will be unbeaten Max Skayzer (7-0-1, 1KO) taking on battle tested veteran, Robert Valenzuela (51-48-2, 42KO). In opening action is 6’7” Lionel Davis (4-0, 3 KO) vs. Andrae Carthron (3-3-2, 1KO).

Tickets for the Friday show are $20 and $30 and may be purchased at or, if tickets remain, at the Irvine Marriott outside the Grand Ballroom. Doors open at 6:30pm and the first bell is at 7:30pm.
