Baysangurov annihilates De Martinis!

By Alexey Sukachev

Russian junior middleweight Zaurbek Baysangurov (now 21-1 with 16 KOs) scored his second consecutive first-round blowout moments ago at Kiev’s Palace of Sports. In the main event of the show, promoted by the K2 East promotional group, Baysangurov, 24, decked his Italian opponent Christian De Martinis (22-3, 10 KOs) once with a body-punch and once with a hard left hook to the head before knocking him down again after a thunderous right hand, which forced referee to stop the contest without a count. Baysangurov seized the vacant WBA Intercontinental title in the process. Next for Chechen native is August showdown against Contender II victor Grady Brewer.
Also, K2 East-promoted Croatian heavyweight Mario Preskar moved to 16-0-2, 10 KOs, after an eight-round workmalike unanimous decision over Russian journeyman entertainer Daniil “Shrek” Peretyatko (16-22, 6 KOs).

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
