British light heavyweight beltholder Tony Bellew (18-1, 12 KOs) scored a hard fought ninth round TKO over Edison Miranda (35-8, 30 KOs) on Saturday night at the Alexandra Palace in London. Miranda gave as good as he got over the first six rounds, but Bellew came on strong midway, finally forcing Miranda to take a knee in round nine. Miranda then told the referee that he’d had enough. Time was 2:54.
Welterweight Lee Purdy (19-3-1, 12 KOs) stopped previously unbeaten Gumersindo Carrasco (16-1, 13 KOs) in round four. Purdy dropped Carrasco in round one and twice in round four before the bout was waved off. Time was 1:43.
In a middleweight clash, Erick Ochieng (11-1, 4 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over Ryan Toms (11-3-1, 6 KOs). A body shot finished Toms at 2:37.
