Lightweight contender Ray Beltran recently participated in a “Ask Me Anything” session on the popular social news and entertainment website With publicist Emily Pandelakis furiously typing away on behalf of Ray, a lot of interesting ground was covered. Beltran is traveling to Scotland to challenge WBO world champion Ricky Burns on September 7 in a bout that will be televised live in the USA on Wealth TV and

On fighting Ricky Burns in Scotland: I’m very excited and motivated. When you got a title shot, you can’t be picky. Wherever it is, you go and get it.

On who he’d like to face if he beats Ricky Burns: I want to fight Gamboa. I will fight anybody, but I want Gamboa. That’s a big name.

On sparring against Manny Pacquiao: It is the toughest sparring of my life. It is hard to describe, but it’s so intense, you cannot even relax. You are always working, even when you aren’t throwing punches.

On WBC lightweight champion Adrian Broner: I believe I can beat Broner. I think Broner got exposed a lot with Malignaggi. If you pay attention, Broner got hit a lot. He got cracked with some punches. I think that could be a good fight between me and him.

On IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez: Miguel Vazquez is I think a great fighter, with a very tricky style. I don’t think anybody wants to fight him because there’s no money for fighting him. I got a lot of respect for him, but nobody wants to pay to go see him fight. The TV doesn’t want to pay to see him fight.

On superstitions: I always wear red. I don’t like to mix the color black with red. I like to wear red and white. Any light color. I don’t like dark colors. I always carry a cross. I put it in my shoes.
