Everlast Worldwide Inc. has added WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto to their athlete roster. Berto joins the ranks of other influential fighters, ready to make his lasting impression on the boxing world. This long term agreement allows Berto to exclusively wear Everlast apparel and gloves for all professional fights and Everlast sponsored events. Berto, from Winter Haven, Florida, stepped into the professional boxing scene as a hotly recruited two-time National PAL Champion, Golden Gloves Champ, U.S. Championships silver medalist and a 2004 Olympic boxer. Berto credits his father for instilling his passion to succeed. Since his professional debut in 2004 with a KO to his opponent, Berto has held an undefeated record (25-0) including 19 KOs.
“Everlast has always endorsed the greatest fighters in our sport, and I am honored to be part of this legacy,” said Berto. “They are dedicated to creating the best performance products on the market, and thus it was a natural choice in my commitment to the brand”
“Andre is truly one of the brightest stars in boxing today, and we are proud to have him join Everlast’s long heritage of world champions,” stated Matt Cowan, VP of Marketing and Product for Everlast. “His dedication to greatness in and out of the ring mirrors our brand ethos, making him a natural fit to the Everlast family.”
On May 30, 2009, Berto defended his WBC Welterweight title against Juan Urango. Berto debuted the Protex3 Fight Gloves, dominating Urango and winning via unanimous decision. The Protex3 Fight Gloves, the newest professional fight glove made by Everlast, will be available Summer 2009.
