In a press conference at the plush Karibe Convention Center, Promoter Jacques Deschamps in partnership with Premium Boxing Promotions of Panama, announced an interesting international 8 bout card in Haiti on December 18th (at the same venue). Two regional titles will be at stake: 2 time former European union champion, French-Haitian boxer Jimmy “Pitbull” Colas (27-6, 11 KOs) will be making his debut on the American continent against Colombian champion Jhon Berrio (15-6, 12 KOs) for the interim WBC Latino junior middleweight title. Then, there will be an intriguing clash of unbeaten prospects pitting hard punching, Panama-based Nicholas “Axman” Walters (12-0, 10 KOs) of Jamaica against sleek Dominican Carlos Manuel Reyes (13-0, 7 KOs) for the vacant WBA Fedelatin featherweight crown.
Also on the card, former world champion and WBA #2 Ricardo “Maestrito” Cordoba of Panama (35-2-2, 22 KOs) will square off against Luis Felipe Murillo of Colombia. “I ‘m confident that quality boxing cards can be offered regularly in Haiti, declared Deschamps to an assistance of journalists from Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Panama, because there are local boxers coming up and also good Haitian origin boxers in the United States. There are already two Haitian origin world champions at the moment (Andre Berto and Jean Pascal). Where there is a will, there is a way.”
The complete boxing card will be the following: Jimmy Colas (Haiti) vs Jhon Berrios (Colombia) 11 rounds for the WBC interim Latino title, junior middleweights; Nicholas Walters (Jamaica) vs Carlos Reyes (Dominican Rep) 11 rounds for the WBA Fedelatin title, featherweights; Ricardo Cordoba (Panama) vs Luis Felipe Murillo (Colombia) 10 rounds, junior featherweights; Ramon Ayala (Mexico) vs Juan Carlos Rosario (Dominican Rep) lightweight, 6 rounds; Evens Pierre (Haiti) vs Leonel Segura (Dominican Rep), junior welterweight, 6 rounds; Azea Augustama (Haiti) vs Aneudis Marte (Dominican Rep) light heavyweight, 6 rounds; Johnny Orisme (Haiti) vs Luis Hinojosa (Dominican Rep) bantamweight, 4 rounds; Wilky Campfort (Haiti) vs Daniel Beato (Dominican Rep) junior middleweight 4 rounds.
